Margaret is survived by her nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces, and cousin, Sister Joanne Whitaker, RSM. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation Wednesday, April 24, 10:00 – 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in the Chapel at the Convent of Mercy, 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion Station, PA 19066. Burial in the community cemetery will immediately follow. Contributions in Sister’s memory may be sent to the Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community at the above address. S. Margaret Kelly, RSM obituarySister Margaret Kelly, age 92, a member of the Sisters of Mercy, died peacefully on Sunday, April 14 at McAuley Convent. Sister was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls before entering the Sisters of Mercy in 1944. She earned a BA in Education from Villanova University and a B.S. in music from Manhattanville College as well as a MMu in music education from Temple University.An educator at heart, Sister Margaret taught in elementary and high schools for 25 years in the Diocese of Allentown and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. This included six years at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School and four years at Mercy Technical Institute, now Mercy Career and Technical High School.Sister Margaret also served as principal at Waldron Academy for five years and as associate director of campus ministry at LaSalle University in Philadelphia for 23 years.Her love of music and her extraordinary talent on the harp will be her legacy. She generously shared her musical talents at many community celebrations.Sister Margaret is pre-deceased by her parents James and Cecelia, and her siblings Catherine, Thomas, James, and Jack.
