D’ANGELO1924~2020Sarah Rose (nee Falcone) D’Angelo, of Marlton, NJ, passed away late on December 4, 2020 at age 96.Sarah was born in Villa Mascitti, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. As a young girl, she and her brother Luke spent much time with her grandparents before sailing to the United States as a young teenager to join her father and stepbrothers Nick and John in Philadelphia. Upon arrival to her new home, she embarked on learning a new language and prided herself with working outside of the house. It wasn’t long before she met Anthony – Tony – whom she married in 1942. A year later she become a young mother during World War Two, following her husband to Chicago with her son Louis, for Tony’s US military posting. However, Philadelphia was home and they soon returned with fond memories of Chicago. In 1950 Sarah and Tony welcomed their daughter Janice and with their growing family they moved to Broomall. Sarah was a housewife who maintained an immaculate home, created Italian masterpieces for meals and holidays, and ensured her children and husband were always the center of her heart.Sarah was a loving mother and wife. When her children started families of their own, she knew they would come to her house often for family gatherings – the holidays being so important to her in her social calendar. She loved to cook with her granddaughters Linda, Shelley and Lisa, and she loved feeding them even more! Her granddaughters fondly remember her baking, like her delicious biscotti and pizzelles.Sarah and Tony enjoyed Sunday’s at St Pius X Church in Broomall, spending time with extended family – cousins, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters. Sarah and Tony traveled to Argentina to meet with family from Italy and they traveled throughout the United States to visit their children, grandchildren and large extended family for special occasions. After Tony’s passing, Sarah moved to Glen Mills, Pennsylvania to be close to her daughter Janice and son-in-law Frank. In later years, she moved to Marlton, New Jersey to be closer to her son Louis and daughter-in-law Claire. She cherished her family above all and was quick to smile when spending time with her great-grandchildren. Her blue eyes radiated when she laughed, and her hands were strong and gentle – always available to hold for comfort and love. She is a part of each of each us who were blessed to know her. Sarah was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P. D’Angelo; loving mother of the late Janice Iocona, and dear sister of the late Luke (Marie), Nick (Joan) and John (Joanne). She is survived by her loving son Louis D’Angelo (Claire) and son-in-law Frank Iocona; her cherished granddaughters Linda (Marco), Lisa (Gianmaria) and Shelley (Kelly), and her adoring great-grandchildren Lia and David. Relatives & Friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, Dec. 10th 9:30-10:15 am followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 am at St. Pius Church 220 Lawrence Rd., Broomall, PA 19008.
