PATTERSON, Russel “Russ”, age 82, passed away Friday, May 12, surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born in Hackensack, NJ on February 8, 1941, to Harold and Margaret Patterson and he was one of 8 siblings. He was a graduate of John Bartram High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Wasp. He married Mary Ann Arena on April 20, 1963 and raised three children with her until her passing on August 25, 1986. He later married Cynthia Cox on February 8, 2014. Russel worked in the coining division for the Treasury Department U.S. Mint and retired in 2017. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and a season ticket holder at the Vet to support his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles. He cherished spending time with family and enjoyed reading the paper with his cat Mallory.
He was a beloved husband, father, and Pop Pop, who will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his wives Mary Ann Arena and Cynthia Cox, his brothers David Patterson, Ralph Patterson, Richard (Dick) Patterson, sister Carol (Patterson) Painter, his daughter Denise (Patterson) Organ, and son- in-law Daniel Organ. He is survived by his children Cherie (Shaun) Barden and Michael Patterson, and his stepchildren Christopher (Lisa) Cox and Jill Cox, as well as his grandchildren Felicia (Chris) Markun, Mary Ann (Jackie) Organ, Danielle Organ, Victoria Patterson, Sarah Patterson, Michael Patterson, Elizabeth Cox, Ryan Cox, Kayla Cox, and Freddy Crager. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Collin and Logan Markun.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 21, at Danjolell Memorial Home from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, for friends and family to come and pay their respects.
