Rita Emily of Broomall, PA, formerly of Havertown and Upper Darby, passed away on September 15th, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her beloved husband, Nino, and children, Dino and Mary (Wise). She was 74 years old.
Rita was a devoted wife and mother who was passionate about animal rights and gave a loving home to many dogs throughout her life.
Rita worked at the Curtis Publishing Co. in Philadelphia after graduating high school but became a homemaker once she married and had children. She had a creative spirit that showed through in her ability to craft beautiful holiday ornaments, unique wreaths, and other elaborate decorations that made each holiday special for her family and made their house feel like a home. All holidays were a favorite time of year for Rita and that included Halloween. As a lover of horror movies, Rita was exceptionally talented at crafting spooky costumes for her two children and creepy decorations to entertain their friends.
Rita’s talent for creation also fueled her ability to cook family favorites like rice balls(her daughter’s favorite), Crabs and Spaghetti (a Christmas Eve tradition and whole family favorite), and pineapple upside down cake (her son’s favorite). She baked and decorated her own gourmet birthday cakes for every children’s party, sculpting rabbits, Barbie dolls, and even painting E.T. and other character’s into the icing on her homemade sheet cakes.
The last of this Fabioneri generation, she is predeceased by her parents, Sophie (nee Mezzoprete) and Gino Fabioneri; her siblings, Al (Dibonaventura), Dominic, Gino, Jeanette (Falance), and Mary (Rindone).
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Antonino; children, Dino and Mary (Wise); two grandchildren, Francesca (Wise) and Oscar (Wise); and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives & friends are warmly invited to her Visitation on Thursday, September 21st 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM followed by her Memorial Service at 11:00 AM in the Main Chapel at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
