We were greatly saddened to hear of the passing of your mom in church this Sunday -- the church she was such a major part of most of her life. As a two-time former student of Mrs. Nicolella, it's not the math or grammar I will remember most, but rather the life lessons. One of the first terms she printed on the blackboard in 5th (and again in 7th) grade was the word RESPECT. It became a constant theme in our character formation, and for that I am most grateful. A challenging but caring teacher, she often demanded that I "speak up" when reading or speaking aloud in class -- and encouraged me to continue singing -- one of my favorite forms of self-expression to this day. She and Mario raised a wonderful family. We were blessed to cross paths numerous times over the years with Cheryl, who spent time with us while we were in the hospital for the birth of two of our sons. To Cheryl, Marcy and all the family, our sincere condolences and continued prayers. Thank you, Mrs. N -- you were, are and will continue to be a true Christian lady and role model worthy of our eternal gratitude and respect! John and Agnes Blisard and Family

Thinking of you all as I remember my wonderful 7th grade teacher. She encouraged and pushed me when I needed it most, despite my painfully shy personality. She allowed me to be the “Candy Girl” more than once! (only older St. Pius alum will understand) She was a kindred spirit with my own mom (although not a teacher herself), taking firm but loving command of very crowded classrooms. Oh how we could use that in today’s world! Remembering her fondly and so sorry for your loss. She left behind a beautiful legacy in her family. Sincerely, Yvonne

Aunt Phyllis was one of a kind. A devoted wife,Mother,Grandmother and consummate educator and nurturer. We will miss her but need not mourn her. Phyllis will ever be with us. She goes forth now to be with her beloved husband. We will see her again. What a magnificent life of a real Lady! With love, John,Shirley and Tony.
