Michael Sean Hennessy “Mike” passed away peacefully at the age of 66 on December 21, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born on October 2nd, 1958 to William “Pip” Hennessy Sr and Helene Duncan Hennessy, growing up in SW Philadelphia. He was a graduate of Saint Barnabas Parish School and West Catholic High School. Mike was a dedicated stagehand of IATSE Local 8 in Philadelphia since 1987; formerly an executive board member. Much of his time was spent working at the Pennsylvania Ballet and numerous theatres. He was a great role model at the union, educating and leading members. Remembered as a man of vast optimism and a tower of strength.
Mike had immense appreciation for the shore, enjoying countless hours with his closest family and friends. His passion was Philadelphia sports but had a particular love for the Phillies and the Eagles. He created lasting memories on fishing trips, sporting events, and never failing to be the highlight of the party. A man who aspired to live at full speed while laughing. A motto of “No problem, we got this,” was his way, every day.
Mike is survived by his cherished brother William Francis Hennessy Jr, and his wife Lisa; his former wife, Gayle Althouse; his loving nephews Ryan and Duncan Hennessy; and his many loving cousins and loyal friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Danjolell–Stigale Memorial Home of Aston 3260 Concord Road on Friday December 29th from 9-10:45am. Followed by his Aston Funeral service at 11am in the Main Chapel. Interment will be at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
