Khema Jayanetti age 89, on Nov. 19, 2018 of Glen Mills, Concord Township, originally from Sri Lanka.Beloved wife of the late Major A. Jayanetti and sister of the late Warasena, Wilson, and Wimalawathie Yahampath.Survived by her loving children Saman Dias Jayanetti (Lee Chamberlain), Purnima Jayanetti (Noel Ponnaiyah), and Dinali Jayanetti (Mark Gilbert) and her grandson Verosh Jayanetti. Khema served a career and lifetime in teaching others. Her public and private service teaching spanned 35 years with various assignments until her last assignment and retirement from the prestigious Colombo School of Visakha Vidyalaya. Her subject matter areas included the Sinhala language, Buddhism, Social Studies, and History. After retirement Khema loved farming her land and used proceeds from her work to help many underprivileged people in her village. She grew coconuts, bananas, coffee, black pepper, cinnamon and other edible native species. Her love for gardening was evident in some amazingly grown and rare orchids and other flowers. She was respectful of and loved all living creatures, especially the cows that were kept for her farming activities. Many rare species of wildlife were attracted and could be observed in and around her home in Sri Lanka.She continued to work on charitable efforts associated with the Buddhist Temples in her village and surrounding areas to help the less fortunate especially children and the elderly.A loving wife, great mother, grandmother and friend to many, her kind and gentle nature, sense of humor and humanity towards others will live on.Relatives & Friends are invited to her visitation on Friday Morning Nov. 23rd at 10:30 AM followed by her Buddhist Funeral Service 11:30 AM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Khema’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital at https://donate.lovetotherescue.org
