Biography of Judith Helen Tague 1940-2023
Judith was born on Wednesday, April 3rd, 1940. Her parents were Helen Gallagher and Hugh Tague. Her mother was rushed to the hospital in Johnny Carroll’s flower truck; Carroll would be her godfather. Judy’s brother Hugh predeceased her in 2020. Her sister is Anne Marie-also known as-Jacqué. Judy attended St. Ann’s parochial school and Wildwood Catholic high school where she was a basketball standout. Judy was dual enrolled at Texas Western University and the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, Texas; she worked for a year as an operating-room nurse at Mercy Hospital in Sea Isle City. She then taught at St. Raymond’s Catholic grammar school.
Judy’s desire to teach called her to Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania. Judy went on to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in special education. From 1974 to 2003, she taught in the Wildwood public schools where she gave herself to a generation of students—taking them on trips, providing necessities, running the “Blue Chip Café”, and attending their sporting events. She took great pride in their accomplishments. She was teacher of the year. She had wonderful colleagues and was active in the Love of Linda that raised money for cancer patients.
In her spare time, Judy’s soprano was in high demand at weddings. She produced and directed musicals at Wildwood Catholic, collaborating with Frank Feraco and Richard Turco. Judy and Frank ran the Coventry Hotel, which included summer time musicals with the “Coventry Players”. Judy’s musicals were annual events at Wildwood Catholic. For the musical “Peter Pan” Judy brought in an expert from Las Vegas who facilitated Peter Pan flying across the Wildwood Catholic stage.
Judy’s extended family included her brother-in-law Patrick Murray, nieces Thea Murray Burke and husband, Jeremy Burke, Meg Murray and husband Dennis Seaman. Among her nieces and nephews are Tracy Tague, John Tague, Jared and Travis Tague and his wife, Rain. Judy’s nephew Hugh Tague predeceased her. Judy had six grand nephews; Ryan, Hugh, and Patrick Tague, Patrick and Matthew Seaman, and Achilles Tague, her grandnieces are Lauren Tague, Anya Seaman, and Erin and Fiona Burke.
Judy had several dogs—her two Golden Retrievers (Ruffy and Brandy). When she retired she moved in with Jacqué and Patrick and her Golden Doodle, Lexie, who predeceased her. She enjoyed skiing, and golf, and travelling. Sadly, Judy developed dementia and in 2018 and entered Parkhouse Nursing Center in Phoenixville.
Celebration of her life will a Mass is on June 12th at 11 with visitation at 10 at the Assumption church in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. Interment will be at St. Mary’s in Cape May
