Joseph C. “Joe” LaRosa

September 16, 1943 - March 23, 2021

LaRosaJoseph C. LaRosa, age 77, born September 16, 1943, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 23, 2021.Joe (“Uncle Joe”, “Pop Pop”) was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Philadelphia/Broomall. He graduated Monsignor Bonner High School in 1960, before embarking on a long, varied career. One could say he was a jack of all trades and a master of some. There was nothing he would not try. Joe was primarily a salesman, spending most of his life selling auto parts. He also sold cigarettes, and too many car wheels to count. He also spent a few years as an estimator for an HVAC company. While Joe liked working, he loved spending time with family and friends and frequently enjoyed being the life of the party, be it by telling his many jokes or singing a favorite song. He was also famous for creating a nickname for everyone close to him.He also had many hobbies over the years. He loved working on cars and spent a lot of time fixing not only his cars, but those of others. He spent many hours with family and friends repairing and building things in the garage that he built behind his house and in his basement workshop. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving his Corvette. He was a talented woodworker, making many things from small crafts to large pieces of furniture. And again, he was the person family and friends could count on when they needed something fixed. The last few years he turned his talents back to his favorite childhood activity, model railroading. He spent many hours building beautiful, complex train layouts, using his mechanical and woodworking talents. Son of the late Joseph & Antoinette LaRosa. Survivors: Beloved husband of Verna (Nee Calabrese), devoted father of Denise Hansen, Joseph (Ann Marie) LaRosa also survived by his grandchildren- (Sara Hoffman (Jon), Allison Hansen, Melissa Hansen, Michael Hansen, Nicolette LaRosa and Andrea LaRosa and his great granddaughter Emilia Jae Neumann. Joe and Verna became close friends from the day them moved into the house next door to us 30 years ago. He was a friend indeed, happily lending a hand if ever I needed help with something I was working on around the house. But the biggest thing that endeared him to me came in 2010, after the passing of my dear wife, Dolly. Joe recognized how lonely I was and shared my story with a buddy from work, Tom Kelly. The two of them played matchmaker, introducing me to Tom Kelly's widowed mom, Joyce. To make a long and happy story short, Joyce and I were married in the spring of 2011. We are both very grateful to Joe. His memory will remain with us forever. May God Bless You, Joe...May You Rest in Peace. Tom and Joyce

I did not personally know Mr. LaRosa but I knew of him through his son Joe LaRosa a wonderful colleague at SAP America over many years. I can say that via the wonderful stories and anecdotes of Joe about his father, I did know Mr. LaRosa...I even learned some of his saying and wish I could have used them at work. His amazing force of personality will carry through in many stories and memories. His example of friendship and family continues. His enthusiasm for life though his many interests, hobbies and new findings is an example to all of us to follow. My sincerest condolences. I will remember Mr. LaRosa. Georgette Antelo

We will forever remember Joe, our life long friend since high school, our many trips together to New Port RI and our cruise to Burmuda with other friends , Joe ‘s personality & humor kept us laughing for the entire 7 days
