On May 30, 2023, Harry Murdoch of Drexel Hill, PA passed away. Born on November 19,1918 Harry lived his entire life in the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby Township. Harry entered the United States Army six months prior to Pearl Harbor and his tour was extended for five years where he served overseas during World War Il. After WWII he worked at Nagel’s Oil Company where he retired in the 1980’s. After retirement he entered into Upper Darby Township politics and was voted in as a Councilman at Large and served the community for twelve years. During the 1990’s Harry was his wife, Mickey’s biggest supporter as she served as the Mayor of Upper Darby Township. Harry was a long-time member of the Garrettford-Drexel Hill Volunteer Fire Company. He loved vacationing with his wife and family in Daytona Beach Shores Florida. He also liked spending his time at their summer home on Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and especially enjoyed watching the sunsets with his three great-grandchildren. He was loved by his family and everyone who met him and was often referred to as a true gentleman.
Predeceased by his wife Margaret (Mickey) (nee McNamee) and his father William and Mother Mary (nee Marshall). Three older brothers William, James, and John.
Survived by daughter Eileen (James) Maloney, two grandsons James (Carrie) and Michael (Natia) Maloney. Three great grandchildren JJ, Morgan and Conor and a great great grandson Greyson and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, June 8th 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM followed by a Memorial Service in the main chapel 11:00 AM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall 2811 West Chester Pike. Internment Arlington Cemetery.
