She was born November 9, 1933 in Philadelphia to Pearson E. Yeager and Katherine Cecilia Hone Yeager. She married Richard A. Keen on May 27, 1982, who died August 18, 2013. She counted among her children William Edward Pierce IV, Robert Pierce, David Pierce, Kitty (Pierce) Tomlinson, Philip Pierce (deceased), Christopher Pierce (deceased), Gail (McDonald) Pierce, Betsi (Pierce) Lynch, Ann Marie (Green) Pierce, Drew Tomlinson, Karen (Keating) Pierce, Margaret (Keen) Loehr, Merrill Keen, Jonathan Keen, and Suzanne (Keen) Garrison. She considered all 11 grandchildren, including those from marriages, to be the joy of her life and was overjoyed with her seven great grandchildren.Edie grew up in the Logan section of Philadelphia and attended Little Flower High School. She was the youngest female vocalist in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera. She was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis and founded the Marple-Newtown chapter of the Leukemia Society of America in the mid-1960s. She earned her real estate license and worked for Stout Realty in Broomall, PA, for many years. She soon found her calling as a spiritual counselor for a growing number of people seeking transcendent guidance. She practiced, spoke about, and dedicated herself to spiritualism and founded the Society of Light, a non-denominational spiritual ministry.Visitation is from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with service immediately following on Friday, August 24, 2018 at D’Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA. To celebrate the vibrancy of Edie’s life, the family request that your attire be colorful—a reflection of her spirit! Private inurnment will follow. A celebratory luncheon will be at 1PM, the location and directions will be available after service.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, or Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester, PA.
