Dalmazio P. DiCristofaro, 79, of East Norriton, PA, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 14th, 2019 surrounded by his family. Dalmazio was born on June 22, 1940 in Pratola Peligna, L’Aquila, Italy. He is the youngest of ten children. Dalmazio came to the United States at the age of 20. He graduated Saint Joseph’s University and received his Master’s Degree from Temple University while beginning a long career in education. He was a beloved teacher at Saint John Neumann High School in Philadelphia for many years where he was also the Language Department Chairperson. His love of the game of soccer showed in many ways as he coached the Neumann Boys Varsity Soccer team and later was a referee for many years. He continued his passion for education by teaching Italian at local community colleges and later through private lessons at his home. His lessons often included some authentic Italian cuisine expertly served up by his wife Ina. Dalmazio became known as a local celebrity with his radio show called “Italia D’Oggi” or “Italy of Today” which started in 1964 and spanned decades. He played leading popular music from Italy including his very recognizable theme song “Volare” and also reported on all news and sports from his homeland. Through his radio platform, Dalmazio raised over $150,000 for various Italian causes including earthquake and flood relief funds. He touched many lives through his long career in education and broadcasting.Dalmazio is survived by his loving wife Ina (nee Giampino) of 52 years; along with sons John (Andrea) DiCristofaro, Antonio (Michele) DiCristofaro, and daughter Lisa (David) Weber; and four wonderful grandchildren, Paolo, Marina, John and Talia. He is also survived by one brother, Onofrio DiCristofaro; his mother-in-law, Maria Giampino; and many nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Sunday, October 20 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Danjolell Memorial Homes in Broomall, PA and 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM on Monday, October 21 at Visitation BVM Church in East Norriton, PA. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Visitation BVM Church on Monday, October 21 at 10:30 AM. Dalmazio will be laid to rest at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
