Carmello “Carmen” LaCattara, age 95, born in Hammonton, NJ died of natural causes Wednesday, November 14th, 2019. Carmen was a long time resident of Chester, Pennsylvania and as of recently he resided in Boothwyn with his family.Carmen enjoyed growing up on the family farm in Hammonton. He was a member of the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge because his only brother was killed in the war. Soon after coming home from the service he met and married his loving wife, Clairine Prestipino. Through the years he was a truck driver for Robbin’s Motors, owned Artware Ceramics in Woodlyn, PA, and for 20 years he worked at the family business, Furillo’s Hoagie Shop. Carmen was a proud man that loved his family. He was hard working, never sat still or stayed in the house. He had a passion for his trucks, loved boating in his younger years at the West End Boat Club, the casino, local diners, and you could always find him nightly at Dunkin Donuts hanging out with the guys. Everyone knew him as the handsome guy with thick white hair always wearing his signature Jeff cap. He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Clairine Prestipino LaCattara, his grandson, Kevin Begley, parents, Angelina and Frank LaCattara and his brother, Sam.He is survived by his daughters, Lee Furillo (Michael) and Rosemary Begley. Grandchildren, Janine Furillo (Michael D’Orazio), Michael Furillo, Renee Begley, Laurie Begley and Kelly Ruggieri (Michael). Seven great-grandchildren, Viviana and Luciano D’Orazio, Erin and Meghan Begley, Dan Begley, and Ava and Nick Ruggieri.
