Barrington (Barry) J. Brooks, age 61, died at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA on Sunday, April 8, 2012. Barry was born on January 25, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from LaSalle University and was also educated in the Archdiocese Philadelphia school system, graduating “Outstanding Senior” in 1969 from Bishop Neuman High School. He was employed at Independence Blue Cross for 28 years as a Sr. Account Executive. Barry was credited with the handling of large Health and Welfare accounts until retiring in 2009. Barry had a tremendous lust for life, a contagious laugh and a heart that was bigger than a body could contain. Everyone that met Barry, loved Barry. He was a friend to everyone, supportive brother, loving son and the greatest uncle in the world. “No one knows our pain because Barry was OUR ROCK, our everything! PRAY FOR US…” Survivors include: his Mother, Marion Brooks, Great Aunt, Mrs. Geraldine Phillips; sisters, Adrienne Walcott (Lloyd) and Kim Brooks; niece, Monique Walcott; nephew, David Brooks. His “symbolic” niece, Jessica Scott and his partner, Willie Brown, all relatives and friends and Barry’s best friends, Mary Ann Scott and Tom Cannizzaro. Barry leaves a host of his closest friends; Alexander Boyd, Thomas Hall, Ernest Waugh and Billy Carter. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 9 to 10 AM and his Funeral Service, Monday, April 16th, at 10 A.M. at St. Athanasius – Immaculate Conception, Philadelphia, PA.
