NOTARO Anthony M. “Tony”, age 88, of Broomall, PA died on October 2, 2010. A survivor of WWII, Tony served with the Anti-aircraft-Artillary Automatic Weapon Battalion in the Pacific Islands, where he and his unit received a Presidential Citation by the Phillipine President. Post war, the 478AAA AW Battalion established a yearly reunion which will celebrate its 60th anniversary in July 2011. Tony attended the charter meeting and was active until the 58th reunion. Tony excelled in sports; receiving achievements as a superior softball pitcher, bowler and golfer. He was the son of the late Pietro and Catherine (nee Paone) Notaro and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita D. (nee Donzanti); his daughter, Sandra Garttmeyer (James); his grandchildren; Nicole and Anthony James “A.J.” Garttmeyer; his brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Daniel Notaro and his sisters, Frances DelSerro, Mary Sarcini, Clara Dunwoody and Stella Ziegenhorn. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 AM, at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.
