Alice Elizabeth Aronson

OBITUARYARONSON 1926-2017Alice Elizabeth (nee Mench), age 91, of Broomall, passed away peacefully in sleep in Bethlehem on October 5, 2017. Loving mother of George Ross (Chris DeJonghe) and Steven J. (Sharon Siegler). She is also survived by her niece Beth Anne (Avery), 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents (George W. and Elizabeth A. Mench), 3 siblings (Herbert, Adah M. Pollock, George Mench) and grandson (William D.).An avid gardener, Celtic history buff, and model train enthusiast, she traveled extensively to Europe, the Far East, and Australia. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Sherlock Holmes Society Copper Beeches.During WW 2 she worked at the Frankford Arsenal, followed by a career as an accountant/bookkeeper at Univ. of Pa. She enjoyed a post-retirement job in the deli department at Genaurdi’s Supermarket in Edgemont.Best remembered for her tireless devotion to extended family, and her humanitarian giving of time and money to churches and child-related charities, her greatest joy was nurturing all children.Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1 PM at the Danjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral Service at 2 PM in the Main Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Our Lord’s Ascension Polish National Catholic Church, 2105 Jennings Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017.
