Albert Arnold “Bud” Heaton of Simpson Meadows in Downingtown PA passed away on Monday, Feb. 15 at Hickory House Nursing Home in Honeybrook. He was 88 years old. Born in Philadelphia PA, he was the son of the late Arnold and Myrtle Wibberley Heaton. For many years, he resided in Brookline, Havertown, Pa. Mr. Heaton served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as part of the Manhattan Project . After the war, he attended classes at Indiana University of Pennsylvania . He was a chemist with ARCO Chemical Company for 30 years and retired in 1982. As a young man, he enjoyed sports of every kind and was a member of a bowling team for many years. He was an avid reader and bridge player later in life and was a long-time member and past President of the Optimist Club of Havertown. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen McClintock Heaton of Downingtown, PA and children Barbara Heaton Loux of Rockville, MD and Robert Charles Heaton of Havertown, PA, brother Charles Heaton of CA, and sister Eleanor Hammell of CA, and son-in- law Jerome W. Loux of Rockville, MD. He is survived by two grandchildren, Rachel Schiffenbauer and Audrey Loux. His brother Arthur Heaton died in 2000. Visitation is from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Dr Charles Weigle, of Downingtown Methodist Church, will officiate the 11:00 funeral service to be held in the Main Chapel of the Memorial Home. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, State Road, Upper Darby. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested contributions be made to the Optimist Club of Havertown Scholarship Fund, 1426 Sunny Hill Lane, Havertown, PA, 19083.
