Mom and Ruth were close friends when our family lived on Ashford Street back in the 50s and early 60s, kind of partners in crime and homemaking. Unfortunately our families lost touch not long after we moved upstate. Mom often wondered how the Starkeys were doing always regretted loosing contact with Ruth. It was a wonderful surprise and comfort to Rob, Jan, and I when, after so many years, Ruth showed up at Mom's funeral at Arlington Cemetery 5 years ago, bringing with her lots of memories of those times. I'm sure your family has a wealth of stories about Ruth and hope you find much comfort and joy in them now.

Debbie and Diane. Your mom was one of the Best! So many wonderful memories growing up with your family on ole' Ashford Street. She was an "Ashford Street Legend". She was like a 2nd mom to me and always so kind and welcoming. Di- what would we have done without your basement!? She made it so great for us! So much fun and great memories there. I think she secretly liked us hanging out there so she knew where you were. SAFE! My memories of us are so happy, especially times when Debbie got married, Christopher was born and stayed with you guys, proms, parties, dinners, your mom's famous potatoe salad... which I hope you or Debbie have! I need it. Welcoming me and my family into your home when my mom had to be with my Dad on the police shooting, Pizza Villa on Friday nights, learning all about scanners :), Swimming lessons at Colwyn swim club.. ugh I kinda didnt really like that, but I did become a certified swimmer because she took us every Saturday! I always really loved hanging out with her later on Ashford and even at times when she and my grandmother would go out with Florence...and just sharing old stories of the good old days! SHE LOVED HER FAMILY AND ESPECIALLY YOU AND DEBBIE SO MUCH! She was so proud of both of you and your families! My prayers are with you... Be assured she will be with you watching over now... No more pain or worry! Love you both. Chrissy
