ColemanEdward Patrick Coleman, son of Eugene Coleman Sr. and Anne Haggerty Coleman, was born May 8, 1958 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He passed away on July 18, 2018. Ed and his five siblings were raised in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Ed began his education at St. Matthew’s Catholic School in Stroudsburg. He attended Scranton Preparatory School in Scranton, PA for high school. He is a graduate of the University of Scranton, which is where he met the love of his life, GraceAnn McElwee. After college, he went on to attend law school at the Catholic University of America. Ed had a deep love for learning and an insatiable thirst for knowledge.Ed and GraceAnn were married on June 9, 1990. Both knew that they wanted a large family, and they began theirs in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania where they raised their six kids. Ed was a tremendous father, and his children were the very essence of his being. Nothing brought him greater pride than watching his children thrive and succeed. Those who knew Ed knew that it was nearly impossible to have a conversation where he wasn’t happily boasting about his children and their many accomplishments. Ed was man of many interests. He loved traveling, and even homeschooled his six children for a year as they traveled the world. He was a man of inspirational faith, regularly attending mass, participating in St. Anne’s Novena, and volunteering in his parish. He contributed to his community by serving as a Board Member at Scranton Prep, regularly donating to charity, and helping those around him. He was creative and artistic, and would spend hours at the kitchen table sketching designs and developing new ideas. He was also an innovator and creator, and helped launch The Crossings alongside his four brothers. He loved sports. He was a religious Yankee fan, a college basketball player and a coach. He was a proud Irishman man who understood the value of friendship. He was a man who lived well and laughed hard. He led famous Fourth of July parades, hosted family parties, went to concerts, and lit up every room he walked into with his many jokes and famed stories. He will be remembered as a supporter and provider who could always be relied upon to cook breakfast, dish out advice, or just flash one his million-watt smiles. Ed is predeceased by his brothers Michael and Eugene, his sister Nancy and his two parents. He is survived by his wife GraceAnn; his children Kirsten Noelle, John Gerald, Connor Joseph, Michaela Grace, McKinnon Anne, and Gaelen Cáite; his brother Donald Coleman, sister Mari Coleman and his many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and will be welcomed into Heaven by those who went before him. May his soul rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday evening, July 22nd, 4-6 PM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.
