Mott December 10, 1929Born to Eternal Life February 2, 2018Beloved husband of Elaine Maria Mott (née Varallo), cherished father of Celeste Elaine Stewart, Cynthia Lynne Harrity, and Robert Francis Mott. Loving grandfather of Brandon Richard Stewart, Elaine Maria Stewart, Nicholas Daniel Stewart, Carl Robert Stewart, Spencer Francis Harrity, Brian Nicholas Harrity, and Julia Nicole Mott. Devoted father in law of Larissa Maria Mott, John Charles Harrity, and Daniel Howard StewartRichard Gerard Joseph Mott was born in Philadelphia 88 years ago to Marie Magdalene and William Constantine Mott. He attended Saint Rose of Lima Elementary School, and Saint Thomas More High School. He graduated from Villanova University as an electrical engineer. His entire professional life was with the Federal Government’s Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration. He had a brilliant mind, achieving many awards and patents.Richard and Elaine began their journey together 62 years ago with a beautiful Nuptial Mass celebrated by Bishop Louis A. DeSimone, who will concelebrate his Mass of Resurrection.Rich, above all, was a man who was devoted to his family. He loved us all, and he had a special bond of love with his sister, a Sister of Saint Joseph, Sister Marie Frances Mott. She always referred to him as “her little brother.” Richard loved his family, his country, and his God. He was a man of great integrity, kindness and compassion, never seeking recognition for the myriad acts of charity and care for his family and for whomever needed a helping hand. His compassion also extended to all God’s creatures, both great and small.He never raised his voice in anger or spoke ill of another person. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. To know him was to love and respect him.Friends may call 6:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2018, D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008 and 10:00 -10:45 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2018, Saint Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Road Paoli, PA 19301, followed by his Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 AM. This Mass will be concelebrated by the Most Reverend Louis A. DeSimone and Very Reverend John Joseph Novielli, O.
