SchaefferBertram J. Schaeffer, age 71, died at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia on November 22nd after a recurrence of cancer for which he had initially been treated in 2013. A partner with Ernst and Young from 1989-2004, Bert had previously practiced as an attorney. After Ernst and Young, in 2006 he became a managing principal of Versus Advisors, LLC. Although he was persuaded to retire due to health issues, he continued to advise clients until recently. A graduate of LaSalle University, Wake Forest University School of Law and recipient of an LLM from Temple University, Bert was a passionate cyclist who returned to even more arduous rides after surgery at The Cleveland Clinic in 2014, despite the fact that doctors told him it would keep him off his bike. He was a Philadelphia Phillies fan from childhood.A native of Doylestown, PA, he currently resided in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Bert is survived by his wife, Rachel; her children Jeanette and Joseph; his mother Loretta Hoffer and step-father George Hoffer of Doylestown; sister Lynda Covatta of Philadelphia; a sister Loyce Brown and her husband Larry, also of Philadelphia, four nieces; one nephew and a close circle of friends.Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Friday, November 29th, 7 PM-9 PM at the Danjolell-Barone Memorial Home of Wallingford 908 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, PA, and on Saturday, November 30th, 9 AM-10:45 AM, with Service to follow 11 AM at the Danjolell-Barone Funeral Home.
